Honoring My Father at 99: Lessons from Teeth to Joints

By May 30, 2025No Comments

Part 1: A Personal Reflection

My father was a Dentist, and he would have been 99 years old today (05/28/2025). I have found that “most” people can readily relate having problems with their teeth with the need to see a Dentist. However, “most” people also have more difficulty with relating a problem with their joints, with the need to see a Chiropractor.

Part 2: Drawing Parallels

I tell my patients all the time that: “nobody does what Dentists do, but Dentists, and the same is true that: “nobody does what Chiropractors do, but Doctors of Chiropractic”. Also, tooth decay is to teeth is what Osteoarthritis is to your bones/joints! In that … if you take care of what GOD gave you … it will take care of you.

Part 3: The Science Behind It

There is a rule in x-ray called: Wolff’s Law that states; “wherever you put stress on a bone in the body … the body will create new bone”. Osteoarthritis is the creation of new bone at the site of a joint, because of the excess stresses being put on that particular joint. The excess stress is caused when a joint becomes misaligned. A joint has the possibility to become misaligned by sometimes the simplest of things usually seen as ordinary daily routine things in life. To name a few … sleeping in the “wrong” position, lifting things improperly, slip-and-falls, playing around “too roughly”, car accidents, or (a lot of times all of the above).
